Oviposition Preference of Bactrocera dorsalis Hendel (Diptera: Tephritidae) on Different Fruit in Snake Fruit Orchard

The oriental fruit fly Bactocera dorsalis (Hendel) is an important pest of snake (Salacca zalacca) in Sleman District. Due to the high level damage by flies, it necessary do. aim this research was find out suitable traps, testing oviposition preferences flies orchard lay eggs on several types fruit. done located at Yogyakarta and owned farmers, while Lab works were Laboratory Entomology, Department Plant Protection, Faculty Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada. All researches between April-June 2019. Guava (Psidium guajava), watery rose apples (Syzygium aqueum), starfruit (Averrhoa carambolae), used as trap crops. Each fruit, with same maturity level, hung 1.5 m above ground for 4 days 12 total trapping intervals 3 times. After test, each taken insects reared laboratory. number pupae that emerged from counted compared. results showed 1 well 2, guava produced highest (151 pupae) followed salak (94 pupae), star (83 water (2 pupae). finding seeds shows most host be trapping, guava.
